| Beschrijving voorzijde | A crested helmet surmounted by a crown occupies the center of the field, beneath which a heraldic shield bears the Paleologo arms. The initials S and O flank the shield in the left and right fields respectively, serving as monogram references to Secondotto (Secondo Ottone) Paleologo. The entire design is enclosed within a circular beaded border, with the ruler's titulature rendered in Gothic Latin lettering around the periphery. The overall style is consistent with late medieval Italian hammered coinage, with bold, angular execution typical of Piedmontese issues of the period. |

| Beschrijving keerzijde | A large cross fleury dominates the reverse field, its four arms terminating in stylized fleur-de-lis motifs, occupying nearly the full diameter of the flan. The arms of the cross are broad and boldly rendered in the hammered style characteristic of 14th-century Piedmontese coinage. A circular beaded border frames the design, with a continuous Latin legend proclaiming the lord of the city of Asti distributed evenly around the periphery. The execution is typical of medieval Italian civic coinage, with the cross serving both as a religious and heraldic symbol of civic authority. |

Secondotto Paleologo governed Asti for fewer than five years as a Montferrat marquis ruling a city that had cycled through Angevin, Visconti, and Montferrat overlordship within living memory. His coinage is among the rarest civic issues of Piedmont — CNI records only a handful of confirmed specimens — reflecting both the brevity of his authority over the city and the political instability that ended with Asti passing back to the Visconti shortly after his death in 1378.
