The abbreviated Greek Christogram 'IC XC' (Jesus Christ) is inscribed in the fields to the left and right of the figure. The enthroned Christ is depicted within a plain or lightly ornamented throne, following the Byzantine iconographic tradition standard to Venetian grossi of this period. A beaded border encircles the design. |
