Obverse description Central field displays an ornate Gothic quadrilobe frame enclosing a long cross, the arms of which terminate within the lobes of the quatrefoil design, rendered in a bold relief characteristic of late medieval Italian hammered coinage. The cross is finely detailed with a double beaded inner border surrounding the central motif. The surrounding circular legend, struck in uncial Latin characters, reads the title and name of the issuing lord. The flan is irregular in shape, as typical of hand-struck grossi of this period, with a beaded border running along the outer edge.
