The entire cross composition is set within a four-lobed quatrefoil of Gothic form, whose cusped outline creates a decorative inner border. A beaded circle separates the central design from the surrounding field, and a Gothic legend in Latin encircles the coin along the outer rim. The design is characteristic of the late medieval Rhenish groschen tradition, with careful attention to the architectural quality of the central quatrefoil frame. |
