| Beschrijving voorzijde | Within a beaded inner circle, a crowned rampant lion faces left in high relief, its tail characteristically curled downward — the distinctive feature giving this type its name 'Kromstaart' (crooked tail). The lion clutches a shield bearing the quartered arms of Burgundy-Flanders on its sinister side. The heraldic figure is rendered in the bold, stylized Gothic manner typical of Flemish hammered coinage. A circular Latin legend in uncial script runs between the inner beaded ring and the outer toothed border. |
