| Descrizione del rovescio | A voided long cross pattée divides the reverse field into four quarters, with three pellets arranged in each of the two diagonally opposite quarters and a six-pointed mullet (star) in each of the remaining two quarters, alternating throughout in the traditional Scottish groat pattern. A beaded inner circle encloses the cross design, and the surrounding circumferential legend in uncial Latin, interrupted by the limbs of the cross, reads DNS : PTECTOR · MS : & : LIBRATO VILLA : EDINBVRGH, identifying Edinburgh as the mint and invoking God as the king's defender and redeemer. |
