Alternate quarters contain a six-pointed mullet (star) and a thistle head, the characteristic Scottish emblems employed on James III groats. The peripheral legend in uncial lettering reads VILLA : EDINBVRGH, denoting the Edinburgh mint, contained between inner and outer beaded circles. |
