Trim was one of several Irish provincial mints activated under Edward IV's light coinage reform, which drastically reduced the weight standard for Irish silver to keep coin in circulation rather than melted for bullion. The Pale was hemorrhaging silver throughout this period, and lighter local issues were a pragmatic concession to economic reality rather than monetary debasement in the usual sense.
Sp#6342-6344 covers a range of die varieties distinguishable primarily by the mintmark sequence. Trim output was modest relative to Dublin, and pieces attributable to this mint with confidence are proportionally scarce in collections today.
