| Beschrijving voorzijde | Quartered heraldic shield occupying the central field, displaying the arms of the Archbishopric of Mainz: the wheel of Mainz in the first and fourth quarters, and the personal arms of the Dalberg family in the second and third quarters. The shield is ornately rendered in the late Renaissance style typical of hammered Rhenish gold coinage. A beaded inner border frames the design, with the circular Latin legend reading WOLFFG. D. G. ARCH. MOGV. P. ELECT. surrounding the shield, identifying Wolfgang von Dalberg as Archbishop of Mainz and Prince-Elector. |
