Obverse description Quartered heraldic shield occupying the central field, displaying the arms of the Archbishopric of Mainz: the wheel of Mainz in the first and fourth quarters, and the personal arms of the Dalberg family in the second and third quarters. The shield is ornately rendered in the late Renaissance style typical of hammered Rhenish gold coinage. A beaded inner border frames the design, with the circular Latin legend reading WOLFFG. D. G. ARCH. MOGV. P. ELECT. surrounding the shield, identifying Wolfgang von Dalberg as Archbishop of Mainz and Prince-Elector.

Reverse description Four oval or lobed shields arranged in a cruciform pattern around a central Tudor rose motif, each shield bearing distinct heraldic arms associated with the territories and dignities of the Archbishopric of Mainz. A date appears in the lower portion of the field between the shields. The composition is enclosed within a beaded border, with the segmented Latin legend MONE - NOVA - AVRE - MOGV. distributed between the shields in the outer circle, identifying this as a new gold coin of Mainz.
