Obverse description Central field features the quartered heraldic shield of the Archbishopric of Cologne, displaying the alternating crosses and ermine fields characteristic of the see, set within a beaded inner circle. The shield is flanked by a long cross extending to the coin's edge, dividing the field into four quadrants. The surrounding legend in Gothic uncial characters reads THEO ARCP COLO nIEn, referring to Archbishop Theodoric II of Moers. The coin exhibits the irregular flan and uneven strike typical of mid-fifteenth-century hammered gold coinage. The overall design follows the established Rhenish Goldgulden typology.
