The upper shield bears the arms of Cologne, the left displays the arms of the Palatinate, the right shows the Bavarian lion, and the lower shield bears a cross-charged device. A decorative quatre-foil rosette appears at the central crossing of the arms. The peripheral legend + MOnE nOVA AVREA BERCHEn, rendered in Gothic uncial script, runs between inner and outer beaded borders, identifying this as a new gold coinage of Bergheim. |
