The uppermost shield bears a diagonal barry design (Palatinate arms), flanked by small decorative crosses. The three lower shields display, from left to right, a rosette or wheel (Julich or similar), a rampant lion (Bavaria), and a lozengy field (Veldenz or Sponheim), with a fifth smaller shield bearing an eagle at the base. The surrounding legend in Gothic uncial characters runs along the outer border. |
