Reverse description The Virgin Mary is depicted enthroned in majesty, seated facing forward with the Christ Child on her lap, in a composition typical of Gothic Marian iconography. She is flanked on either side by Gothic architectural canopies or turrets, emphasizing the celestial and regal character of the scene. At the base of the throne, a small heraldic device is visible in the exergue. The surrounding legend in uncial script forms an Ave Maria devotional invocation. The fine hammered relief and detailed drapery reflect the high craftsmanship of the Jülich ducal mint in the early 15th century.
