The four shields bear the arms of the Electorate of Trier, the eagle of the Empire, the cross of the Order of Saint John, and a lion, respectively. The Latin legend distributed around the field reads MO NO AVR C ON 1619, expanding as Moneta Nova Aurea Confluentiae — denoting the new gold coinage struck at Coblenz (Koblenz) — with the date 1619 integrated into the legend. The composition is typical of the late electoral goldgulden tradition of the Rhine, rendered in bold hammered relief. |
