Reverse description The reverse depicts a nimbed, bearded saint shown in half-length facing front, rendered in the Gothic style typical of Rhenish goldgulden of the early fifteenth century; the figure holds a diagonal staff or cross in the left hand and a book or Gospel in the right, with drapery falling in stylised folds. A small heraldic shield appears at the base of the effigy. The figure is set within a plain inner field framed by a beaded border, with the circular Gothic uncial legend MON nOVA AVREA MRS — meaning 'New Gold Money of Moers' — encircling the whole design.
