| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field depicts Saint Peter, patron saint of Cologne, enthroned facing, nimbed and bearded, holding a key in his right hand and a book or latticed object against his chest, seated beneath an elaborate Gothic architectural canopy with flanking pinnacles and tracery. Two smaller standing saint figures occupy niches to either side of the central throne. A heraldic shield, bearing the arms of Cologne, appears at the base of the composition below the saint's feet. The surrounding legend in uncial Latin letters reads FRIDRICVS AREPS COL, identifying Archbishop Frederick III of Saarwerden. |
