Conrad III of Dhaun held the archiepiscopal see of Mainz from 1419 until his death in 1434, a tenure marked by persistent conflict with the city of Mainz itself — the archbishop and the burghers were in near-constant jurisdictional dispute, and Conrad spent stretches of his reign effectively excluded from his own cathedral city. Mainz's status as an imperial electoral see gave its archbishops the right to strike gold coinage, and the goldgulden issues of this period followed the Rhenish standard maintained collectively by the four electoral Rhine mints.
The Freiburger reference Fr#1621 places this squarely within the broader Rhenish goldgulden series, where die linkages between Mainz, Trier, Cologne, and the Palatinate are well documented.
