Reverse description St. John the Baptist stands facing in the central field, nimbed and bearded, robed in a long draped garment, his right hand raised in benediction and his left arm cradling a book or disc. To the upper left, a displayed eagle bearing a cross on its breast — the heraldic device of the Archbishopric of Trier — flanks the saint's head. The figure is rendered in the Gothic flat-relief style characteristic of mid-fourteenth-century Rhenish goldgulden. A beaded border frames the design, with the saint's name legend in uncial letters disposed around the circumference.
