| Beschrijving keerzijde | A six-pointed star formed by two interlaced triangles occupies the central field, with four heraldic shields placed in the angles: upper left bearing an eagle (Nassau), upper right bearing a fess or barry pattern, lower centre bearing the wheel of Mainz, and at left a further armorial device. The central shield displays the six-spoked wheel of Mainz, the principal charge of the archbishopric. The whole composition is executed in the Rhenish goldgulden tradition, closely following the heraldic arrangement established by the electoral gulden coinage. The surrounding legend reads MONETA MAGUNTINA, identifying this as the monetary emission of Mainz, in uncial Gothic lettering. |
