Reverse description St. John the Baptist depicted standing slightly to the right, nimbed and wearing a rough mantle, holding the Agnus Dei (Lamb of God) before him. A coat of arms of the city of Frankfurt is displayed in the lower field beneath the figure, serving as the mint mark. The saint's figure is rendered in the Gothic style characteristic of late 15th-century Imperial goldgulden coinage. A circular legend in uncial Latin lettering surrounds the central device, with the date incorporated into the inscription.
