At centre, an oval intaglio-style vignette presents the full-length statue of Marshal Michel Ney, shown in military uniform with a raised sword, set on a pedestal inscribed NEY — a reference to the celebrated monument erected in Metz in honour of the Napoleonic marshal born in the city. The four corners each bear a numeral 1 within a circular guilloche rosette, and a rectangular text panel at lower centre carries the redemption notice. |
