Opmerkingen

French chambres de commerce were authorized to issue emergency fractional notes in August 1914 after the mobilization order triggered a near-total withdrawal of coin from circulation. Châteauroux's chamber acted quickly, and by 1915 notes like this were functioning as the primary small-change medium across the Indre département. Badel was a local printer — the chamber didn't reach to Paris or Lyon for the job, which kept production fast but meant modest typographic execution rather than engraved security.

The watermark is the principal anti-counterfeiting measure. JP#46-2/3 distinguishes between two closely related varieties in the series, differentiated by minor typographic or overprint details.
