Beschrijving voorzijde Green letterpress note on yellow-green paper with two allegorical figures flanking the central text field: at left, a male figure in the manner of Mercury holding an envelope aloft, at right, a female figure resting on a cornucopia, both rendered in fine intaglio line work. Four solid corner medallions each bear the numeral '1', while a central oval vignette at the top contains a foliate motif. Below the bold black-ground denomination band reading 'UN FRANC', three lines of redemption text are followed by spaces for the President's and Treasurer's manuscript signatures, with a serial number at foot centre and the printer's imprint along the lower margin.

Opmerkingen

French Chambers of Commerce were authorized to issue emergency small-denomination notes following the coin shortages of World War I, and Boulogne-sur-Mer's chamber was among hundreds that did so — but unlike many inland issuers, Boulogne's notes circulated in a port town where British military and commercial traffic had been exceptionally heavy through 1918. The 1920 date places this issue in the tail end of that authorization period, as the Treasury worked to reclaim circulation from local bodies and restore centralized note issue.

Printed locally by Imprimeries Réunies rather than contracted to a Parisian house, which was less common for the series.
