Obverse description Green letterpress note on yellow-green paper with two allegorical figures flanking the central text field: at left, a male figure in the manner of Mercury holding an envelope aloft, at right, a female figure resting on a cornucopia, both rendered in fine intaglio line work. Four solid corner medallions each bear the numeral '1', while a central oval vignette at the top contains a foliate motif. Below the bold black-ground denomination band reading 'UN FRANC', three lines of redemption text are followed by spaces for the President's and Treasurer's manuscript signatures, with a serial number at foot centre and the printer's imprint along the lower margin.

Reverse description Printed in dark green on yellow-green paper, the reverse is arranged around a central bold denomination inscription '1 FRANC' set within a scrollwork cartouche. Two heraldic shields surmounted by crowns are placed symmetrically to the left and right: the left shield appears to bear the arms of Boulogne-sur-Mer, the right those of a second local authority. A composite vignette at the top centre displays crossed maritime and mercantile attributes beneath a winged figure, while a scales-of-justice motif occupies the lower centre. The four corners carry circular medallions each inscribed '1F', and the whole composition is framed by a fine engine-turned guilloche border.
