Beschrijving voorzijde	Bare-headed portrait bust of President Hastings Kamuzu Banda facing right, rendered in high relief with finely detailed hair, engraved by Paul Vincze whose initials 'P.V.' appear to the left of the truncation. The effigy occupies the upper portion of the field, with the legend 'MALAWI' inscribed on a decorative ribbon-scroll below, arching along the lower rim.

Beschrijving keerzijde	A naturalistically rendered African elephant cow walking to the right, lowering her trunk toward a suckling calf beside her, both animals depicted standing on a grassy ground line in the centre of the field. The engraver's initials 'P.V.' appear at lower left. The date '1964' is inscribed in the lower central field, with the denomination 'FLORIN' arching in large letters along the lower rim.
