Obverse description Central device consisting of a mascle — a voided lozenge-shaped charge — occupying the field, with small trefoils placed at each of the four corners surrounding the mascle. The design is rendered in low relief characteristic of late 12th-century Anglo-Irish hammered coinage, with an irregular flan edge typical of hand-cut silver of this period. No legend is present on the obverse.
