| Additional information |
This piece belongs to the wave of locally-issued euro anticipation tokens that circulated across French communes and cantons in 1997–1998, produced ahead of the single currency's January 1999 launch. The Freinet massif communities — Plan de la Tour, Fisac, and La Garde-Freinet — pooled their promotional effort into a single issue, a minor administrative curiosity in itself. These tokens had no legal tender status whatsoever; their value was purely commercial and sentimental, accepted only by participating local merchants.
