Obverse description The central silver-toned inner disc depicts a dynamic battle scene commemorating the Battle of Jersey, showing a group of soldiers in 18th-century military dress advancing with muskets and a field cannon, two large flags carried aloft above the group. The date 2003 appears in the upper left of the inner field, with an engraver's mark (G) visible to the right of the scene. The outer gold-toned ring bears the multilingual trial legend PRUEBA · TRIAL · ESSAI · PROBE distributed around the circumference, interspersed with six decorative heraldic animal cartouches, with JERSEY inscribed at the base.

Reverse description The central silver-toned inner disc features a seated classical female figure, draped and laureate, positioned to the left and holding a mallet or hammer, rendered in a neoclassical style evocative of Europa; behind her rises a large numeral 1 occupying the right portion of the field, overlaid with radiating lines symbolising unity. Twelve five-pointed stars are distributed around the inner and outer ring border, representing the member states of the European Union. At the base of the inner disc, the word SPECIMEN appears within an oval cartouche, with a stylised euro symbol (E) on a rectangular tablet immediately below. The outer gold-toned ring is plain.
