The effigy occupies the majority of the obverse field, with the date 1766 positioned in the lower exergue beneath the bust. The encircling Latin legend reads CAR III D G HISP ET IND R, denoting the king's titles as monarch of Spain and the Indies, interrupted by the portrait and separated by pellet stops. A plain inner border frames the design, while a prominent milled beaded border runs along the outer rim. |
