| Beschrijving voorzijde | Draped bust of King Carlos III facing right, rendered in the so-called 'rat nose' portrait style characteristic of early Santiago Mint gold coinage, with curled hair and lace cravat visible at the truncation. The effigy occupies the majority of the obverse field, with the date 1766 positioned in the lower exergue beneath the bust. The encircling Latin legend reads CAR III D G HISP ET IND R, denoting the king's titles as monarch of Spain and the Indies, interrupted by the portrait and separated by pellet stops. A plain inner border frames the design, while a prominent milled beaded border runs along the outer rim. |

| Beschrijving keerzijde | Crowned quartered shield of the Spanish Royal Arms at centre, displaying the castles of Castile and the lions of León in the principal quarters, with the fleurs-de-lis of Bourbon in an oval escutcheon at the fess point. The royal crown surmounts the shield. The mintmark 'So' (Santiago) and assayer's initial 'A' flank the lower portion of the shield, with the denomination mark partially visible. The surrounding Latin motto IN UTROQ FELIX — 'Happy in Both' — encircles the design, punctuated by floral ornaments, and a milled beaded border frames the entire reverse. |
