Aanvullende informatie

Honoré II secured formal recognition of Monegasque sovereignty from Louis XIII in 1641 — the Treaty of Péronne that ended Spanish suzerainty over the principality and aligned Monaco with France. This coin, struck just over a decade later, was among the first issues produced under that reoriented political status. Honoré II had also, in 1633, become the first ruler of Monaco to formally adopt the title of Prince, elevating the territory from a lordship.

The Gadoury reference places this among the rarer Monaco silver issues of the period, with surviving examples disproportionately concentrated in cabinet collections rather than the trade market.
