Obverse description A fully armored knight on a prancing horse advancing to right, brandishing an unsheathed sword aloft with the right hand; the arms of Zeeland appear beneath the horse in the lower field. The entire design is contained within a beaded or plain inner circle. The equestrian figure is rendered in the bold, high-relief style characteristic of Dutch Republic hammered piedforts. The surrounding legend is separated from the central device by the inner circle.
