| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field displays the elaborate quartered coat of arms of the Archbishopric of Salzburg, surmounted by a processional cross and a galero (ecclesiastical hat) with pendant tassels, all rendered in fine relief. The shield incorporates the traditional Salzburg heraldic elements including rampant lions and diagonal bars. The arms are flanked by ornate Baroque scrollwork and the suspended tassels of the galero descend symmetrically on either side. A beaded border frames the entire design. The circular legend reading IACOBUS ERN D G ARCH & PRIN SALIS AL runs around the periphery in crisp Latin capitals. |

Jakob Ernst von Liechtenstein held the archiepiscopal see of Salzburg for barely two years, dying in office in January 1747 after a tenure too short to leave much administrative mark. His coinage reflects that brevity — ducats struck across only two calendar years, with output constrained by both the limited reign and the ongoing disruptions of the War of Austrian Succession, which pulled Habsburg monetary attention firmly eastward. Zöttl distinguishes two die varieties across the 1745–1746 production, suggesting at minimum two obverse or reverse working dies, consistent with a modest total striking.
