Jakob Ernst von Liechtenstein held the archiepiscopal see of Salzburg for barely two years, dying in office in January 1747 after a tenure too short to leave much administrative mark. His coinage reflects that brevity — ducats struck across only two calendar years, with output constrained by both the limited reign and the ongoing disruptions of the War of Austrian Succession, which pulled Habsburg monetary attention firmly eastward. Zöttl distinguishes two die varieties across the 1745–1746 production, suggesting at minimum two obverse or reverse working dies, consistent with a modest total striking.
