| Obverse description | Central field displays the elaborate quartered coat of arms of the Archbishopric of Salzburg, surmounted by a processional cross and a galero (ecclesiastical hat) with pendant tassels, all rendered in fine relief. The shield incorporates the traditional Salzburg heraldic elements including rampant lions and diagonal bars. The arms are flanked by ornate Baroque scrollwork and the suspended tassels of the galero descend symmetrically on either side. A beaded border frames the entire design. The circular legend reading IACOBUS ERN D G ARCH & PRIN SALIS AL runs around the periphery in crisp Latin capitals. |
