| Obverse description | Full-length armored figure of Herman Diederik van Bronckhorst standing facing, depicted in three-quarter armor with a ruff collar, holding a sword upright in the right hand and a shield or orb in the left. The figure is rendered in the late Renaissance style typical of Netherlands hammered ducats of the period. A beaded inner circle frames the central effigy, with the Latin legend running along the outer periphery. The irregular flan, characteristic of hammered coinage, results in partial legend visibility at the margins. |

| Reverse description | Centrally placed quartered heraldic shield bearing the arms of the Bronckhorst-Batenburg lordship, divided into four quarters displaying alternating diagonal lozengy and lion passant devices, with a smaller inescutcheon at the center. Two rampant lions serve as supporters flanking the shield to the left and right. The date 15-78 is split across the lower flanks of the shield. A beaded inner border encloses the armorial composition, while the Latin monetary legend encircles the design in the outer field. The workmanship is consistent with late sixteenth-century Netherlands hammered gold coinage. |
