Obverse description Draped bust of King Frederick I of Sweden facing right, wearing a cuirass with elaborate decorative detail and a flowing periwig rendered in high relief in the Baroque manner. The portrait is vigorous and naturalistic, occupying the majority of the coin's field. The circumferential legend in Latin reads FRIDERICUS • D•G • REX • SVECIÆ •, identifying the monarch as King of Sweden by the grace of God. The coin's milled edge is visible at the periphery.
