Obverse description Full-length standing effigy of Ferdinand I in elaborate armour, facing directly toward the viewer, the figure holding a scepter in the right hand and an orb (globus cruciger) in the left. The head, scepter, and feet of the figure bisect a beaded inner circle, with the Latin legend distributed around the periphery of the coin. The portrait is rendered in the Renaissance style characteristic of Habsburg coinage of the mid-sixteenth century.
