| Obverse description | Full-length frontal effigy of Ferdinand I in elaborate armour, holding a sceptre in his right hand and a globus cruciger in his left. The figure is depicted standing upright, with the head, sceptre, and feet breaking through a beaded inner circle that separates the central design from the surrounding legend. The portrait reflects the Renaissance royal iconographic tradition typical of Habsburg coinage of the mid-sixteenth century. |
