Reverse description A crowned ornate heraldic shield bearing the coat of arms of Carinthia is centrally displayed within a beaded inner circle. The shield is elaborately decorated in the Renaissance style characteristic of Habsburg provincial coinage. The date 1549 appears at the conclusion of the peripheral legend, which encircles the inner circle. The overall design reflects the heraldic conventions of sixteenth-century Austrian territorial coinage.
