Baden's 1807 ducat-denomination pieces in silver are pattern strikes — produced not for circulation but to test dies or present to officials, a common practice among German states renegotiating their monetary identities following the Confederation of the Rhine reorganization of 1806. Charles Frederick had just seen Baden elevated to a Grand Duchy that year, and new coinage programs accompanied the political realignment. The Rheingold designation refers to the gold of the Rhine, a marketing and prestige distinction applied to certain Baden ducats of the period.
Wielandt Bad. 755 is a recognized pattern reference, struck in silver as a Probemünze from ducat dies.
