Reverse description Stylized fire altar of Sassanian derivation, rendered in a highly schematized form typical of late Pala silver drachms. The altar is depicted with characteristic vertical and horizontal geometric elements representing the altar structure and its stepped base, flanked by simplified attendant figures or decorative devices, all executed in bold relief on the hammered flan. The design reflects the progressive abstraction of the original Sassanian fire altar motif as it was transmitted through successive generations of imitative coinage in Bengal.
