Obverse description Highly stylized and schematized royal effigy facing right, rendered in the debased Indo-Sassanian tradition characteristic of Pala coinage. The head is depicted in a bold, abstracted manner with curvilinear forms suggesting facial features and headdress, the design composed of deeply struck geometric and flowing lines that have evolved significantly from earlier Sassanian prototypes. The field surrounding the effigy is plain, with the irregular flan edges typical of hammered silver issues of the period.
