| Obverse description | Central field dominated by a large chaitya arch (Ujjain symbol) depicted as a tiered stupa-like structure composed of three stacked arches rising to a central finial, rendered in low relief on a roughly flan. Flanking the chaitya on both sides are serpentine or wavy decorative elements. The surrounding legend in Brahmi script reads 'rajno gotamiputasa siri satakanisa' (King Gautamiputra Satakarni), running around the periphery of the coin in a circular arrangement. The style is characteristic of Satavahana dynasty hammered coinage with an irregular, hand-struck flan. |
