The effigy is rendered in a debased, provincial style derived from late Sasanian prototypes, with simplified facial features and a beaded necklace or torque visible at the neck. The field around the bust is densely inscribed with a Sogdian legend identifying the issuing authority. A plier countermark, characteristic of the 'Mug' type, is applied to the coin's surface. The flan is irregular and shows characteristic hammered fabric. |
