Obverse description King Edward III depicted enthroned in full regalia beneath an ornate Gothic canopy, holding the royal sceptre and orb as symbols of sovereign authority. A crowned leopard's head appears in the field on each side of the enthroned figure, serving as heraldic supporters. The royal legend runs continuously around the periphery of the coin in uncial Latin lettering. The overall composition reflects the elaborate Gothic artistic style characteristic of English royal coinage of the mid-fourteenth century.
