Reverse description The reverse features a vivid full-color applied scene depicting Roman legionaries of Legiones XVII, XVIII, and XIX under ambush in a densely wooded forest, evoking the Battle of Teutoburg Forest of 9 AD. The soldiers are shown in motion, armed with spears (pila) and decorated rectangular shields (scuta), rendered in polychrome color printing against a silver-toned textured woodland background. At the upper apex of the rhombus, a gilt Roman aquila (eagle standard) bearing the SPQR inscription is prominently displayed. The legend LEGIO / XVII - XVIII - XIX is inscribed in the upper field, while IX AD / MMIX appears in the lower field, denoting the historical date and the year of issue.
