Obverse description Draped bust of Sacagawea facing right, her hair swept back and braided, wearing a traditional earring, with her infant son Jean-Baptiste Charbonneau carried on her back in a cradleboard visible over her left shoulder. The legend LIBERTY arcs along the upper rim, while the motto IN GOD WE TRUST appears in two lines in the left field. The design, modeled by sculptor Glenna Goodacre, is rendered in high relief with finely detailed drapery and naturalistic portraiture characteristic of modern United States coinage.
