| Obverse description | The central vignette, engraved by Charles Burt and titled "Concordia", presents two classical maidens clasping hands before a flaming altar, rendered in fine intaglio. The issuing bank's name and charter location appear in bold blackletter script across the upper portion of the note, flanked by ornate guilloche borders and repeating "ONE" / "NATIONAL CURRENCY" lettering along the margins. A large decorative numeral "1" in an elaborate lathe-work frame occupies the right side, with an orange-red circular registry stamp and red serial number overprinted on the face. |
